Launch of [InChorus] at AF Delhi
Music is a universal language that transcends borders and connects people around the world. In recognition of this fact, Alliance Française de Delhi and Kalasetu are organising a cycle of musical meetings entitled [InChorus]. The initiative aims at providing a platform to young promising musicians of all genres – both Indian and French – through concerts, meetings and workshops. As an indo-french organization passionate about Indian Performing Arts, Kalasetu is ideally placed to bring together artists, scholars and a large audience to appreciate and encourage the transmission of artistic expressions from South Asia, in India and in France. The organization was established by two French scholars in Social Anthropology (Ingrid Le Gargasson) and Musicology (Jeanne Miramon-Bonhoure). The idea behind [InChorus] is to encourage a talented Indian musician to take part in the development of a musical project or to strengthen an already existing collaboration with a Francophone artist. Musicians are invited to perform for the public at the auditorium in Alliance Française de Delhi. While the first part of the program is dedicated to an Indian artist, the second part of the performance is followed by a presentation of their collaboration with their French counterpart. The first [inChorus] session coincided with the launch of the initiative at AF Delhi and was organized on December 3, 2016. The first part of the session consisted of performances by Gopal Dayal (Shehnai solo, Hindustani music) and Dhruv Bedi (Sitar solo, Hindustani music). Both were accompanied by Zuheb Ahmed Khan on the tabla. The second part was dedicated to a show by Sabrina Anastasio (Kathputli and French puppets) and performances by Dhruv Bedi (sitar), Gopal Dayal (shehnai) and Zuheb Ahmed Khan (tabla). The next sessions of [inChorus] are scheduled for January 2017, February 2017, March 2017, September 2017 and October 2017.
