Tantri the Mantri Meets Iznogoud At AF Hyderabad!
Come summer, AF Hyderabad
witnesses a lot of buzz: from gadget-inseparable 18 year olds dressed à la mode to playful middle schoolers whose joie de vivre is infectious! There is giggled-whispering, loud hi-fives and boundless energy permeating every space and the pedagogical and administrative staff at AF Hyderabad
look forward to this annual furore.
Every summer, the team at Alliance Française Hyderabad
integrates new creative methodologies in the French language learning experience designed for younger students. Thus, this summer, a successful tripartite collaboration between Ms. Margaux Provost Rodriguez (French trainee-teacher), Mrs. Marie-Noëlle Mathieu (Cultural mediator and Attachée for Conservatoire of Arts in Paris) and Mr. Ajey Balaji Vemulapadu (Senior Trainer & Translator) helped conduct a unique workshop in which the French language was taught using a series of language-through-painting activities. Students drew inspiration from Tantri the Mantri
and imagined a story of their own, devised a plot and saved the Raja yet again from Tantri le Mantri
Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This! A sketch from Iznogoud
This workshop brought to fore a few intercultural aspects as well and rekindled interest among our young learners for Indian comics like Tinkle and Amar Chitra Katha. An interesting tit-bit of info was shared by Mrs. Marie-Noëlle Mathieu: a similar character can be seen in the French comic Iznogoud, wherein the Vizier wants to be the Calife à la place du Calife. The most appealing aspect of such workshops is that students forget the digital world for a while and use their imagination. When the child’s mind is involved, learning is automatic – the teacher is just an encouraging witness.
Upto no good, another one of Iznogoud’s hare-brained schemes
