Yôkaï: Experience Music in Colour with Anne Paceo
Anne Paceo, a leading figure of the contemporary Jazz scene in France will be visiting Bangalore, Chennai, Chandigarh and Delhi between the 19 and 24 September as a part of her India tour. An accomplished performer, Paceo has already performed in over 36 different countries, been the recipient of several prestigious prizes including “Victoire de la Musique” and “D’jango d’Or” and released three albums, of which Yôkaï is the latest.
A globe-trotter and drummer par excellence, Anne Paceo started her career as a drummer for rock and funk music in 1994 and discovered jazz only in 1998 at Les Enfants du Jazz de Barcelonnette, an annual festival held in the Barcelonnette commune of France. Since then, she has performed with artists from many countries and has thus been influenced by many different genres of music. Her first album with “Triphase” was very well received by the critics and she started performing at some of the biggest Jazz Festivals of the world in Europe, South America and Asia. In 2010, she was selected to play as a member of European Jazz Orchestra, thus forging her entry in the Jazz scene in North Europe.
Yôkaï, Anne Paceo’s third album has been described as the most personal and most accomplished album by this French virtuoso. Inspired by her many travels to Burma, Africa, Sweden and Japan as well as her magic world of dreams and imagination, the melodies in this album transport the spirit to a different realm of subtle melodies. Described by critics as hypnotic and addictive, the dreamy ballads have a strong flavour of Jazz Rock. Paceo is accompanied on this musical journey by Antonin-Tri Haong on the clarinet, Pierre Perchaud on the guitar, Leonardo Montana on the piano and Stephane Kerecki on the double bass.
The quintet will be performing Yôkaï in 4 cities in India, starting with the Bangalore on 19 September, followed by Chennai on 20 September, Chandigarh on 23 September and will end the tour in Delhi on 24 September.
