AF Network Gears Up For Bonjour India 2017-18

The network of Alliances Françaises in India recently reunited at Delhi in the beginning of May – on the the list of priorities was the upcoming festival Bonjour India 2017-18. With the overall theme of Innovation. Creativity. Partnership, Bonjour India is a series of events that  will take place at several locations across the Indian subcontinent from November 2017 to February 2018. The entire French network in India including the French Embassy in Delhi, the four French Consulates, 14 Alliances Françaises, 14 centers of Campus France, 4 French educational institutions, and 2 Research Centres will be involved in the festival.

The aim of Bonjour India is to promote France as a welcoming country which is willing to work with other nations and which can be a privileged partner thanks to its renown as a global superpower. India and France have a long-standing and stable relationship which has been steadily growing over the last few decades. Bonjour India will be deployed as a tool which both reflects and reinforces this relationship. The target demographic is Indian youth with the primary goal being an enhancement of student mobility between the two countries. The overall programmation of the festival has been designed to shape the human exchange between India and France for the next 5 to 10 years.

Bonjour India

For the 2017-18 edition of Bonjour India, a series of 69 programmes and projects have been planned across 37 Indian cities in 21 states and Union territories. The events have been subdivided across nine broad themes – Education and Research; Across and Beyond (including initiatives highlighting Indo-French collaborations on issues including water, heritage, Eco Energy and Train transport); Multimedia and Society; Sport for Comunity; The Other Thought (including debates, performances, encounters with French intellectuals, public talks etc.); La Scène (dance, theatre, musical performances etc.); Taste and Trends (circus, street arts, gastronomy, installations, lifestyle experiences, weaving and fashion etc.); Bonjour India Kids; and Meeting the Pros (experts invited for closed-door, purpose driven interactions). A grand opening ceremony and parade will also be organised.
