The Pune International Film Festival was started with the idea of building and promoting a healthy film culture in Pune. The primary goal is to give film aficionados in the city access to global cinema and thereby spark a cultural exchange, as well as giving Marathi cinema international visibility. The festival has a distinct academic flavour and incorporates discussions, lectures, and master classes on varied topics related to the craft. The festival is jointly organized by the Pune Film Foundation and the Government of Maharashtra.
