On the occasion of ‘Fête de la musique’, music lovers throughout the world get to witness variety of experiments done by professionals as well as amateur musicians. Ciné-concert: “The General” by Buster Keaton with live music by Radiomentale is one such event that has been organized for the first time.

The French Ministry of Culture launched the Fête de la Musique in 1982 which today is celebrated in more than hundred countries across the world on 21st June, the day of the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere. This Music festival is essentially a platform to promote the expression of all styles of music from varied social backgrounds where in musicians perform for free and consequently, the concerts are free too!
In India, the celebration of the International Music Day will be marked by various events organised by Alliances Françaises in India. But the biggest of these projects is the ‘Ciné-concert: The General’ by Buster Keaton with live music played by Radiomentale. This unique and innovative project is organized by Alliance Française de Bombay in association with Institut Français in India, DGAF, (Délégation Générale des Alliances Françaises en Inde) and French ministry of Culture and Communication.

In this Ciné-concert, the famous American silent film “The General” by Buster Keaton will be screened along with the live music by Radiomentale. Radiomentale is a DJ duo founded in 1992 by Jean-Yves Leloup & Eric Pajot which has been making its mark by playing electronic, experimental and ambient music.About the film, “The General” is the epic creation of Buster Keaton who undoubtedly ruled the era of silent films with his trademark deadpan expression and physical comedy. With two such unique elements, this show will definitely turn out to be an audio-visual treat for the audience.
