Fête de la Musique

Continuing its tradition of World Music Day celebrations, the Alliance Française de Bangalore is organising a grand fiesta of music across the city. Events have been organised in different venues through the weekend of 21 and 22 June.
The ‘Fête de la Musique‘ has been bringing people together to make and celebrate music since its inception in France in 1982. The festival gained popularity very fast and soon spread to other countries in the world. Today, many free concerts of different genres are organised across the world with participation from both amateurs and professional artists.
An active participant of the ‘Fête de la Musique‘ celebrations, the Alliance Française de Bangalore has been organising a grand celebration of music every year. The Indo-French cultural centre has been throwing open its doors to artists of all languages and genres of music for a weekend of revelries for several years now.
The 2014 edition of ‘Fête de la Musique‘ marks multiple venue collaborations in the true spirit of the festival, taking music across the city. With music enthusiasts across the metropolis wanting to participate in this celebration in one way or the other, Bangalore will witness the true French spirit of the festival. Performances at Octavium, World Music Conservatory, The Humming Tree and The Big Pitcher will add cheer to the festival which is steadily extending its horizons. Keeping in mind that “anybody and everybody” can make music on this day, Bangalore’s favourite musicians are participating in the festivities alongside numerous amateurs.
The festival serves as a platform to discover the various musical talents, creating a bridge of communication between musicians and music lovers. The people of Bangalore will be up for a surprising treat with impromptu concerts across the city. The Alliance Française de Bangalore encourages people to take a look at the event calendar and create their own musical itinerary, hopping from concert to concert, making the most of a wide variety of styles and taking the spirit of the festival to the streets!
